Monticello's Spring Fling This Weekend
If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, Monticello's annual Spring Fling is sure to please the whole family.
Saturday, May 16, is going to be a fun-filled day, starting at 11:00 a.m., with the Fireman's Pig Roast, with live music from local musician Andy Yaun. The Pig Roast will be held at the Monticello Fire Station, located at the north end of Main Street. After you enjoy the pig roast, you can get some flowers to plant from the Monticello 4-H club, some nuts to eat from the Monticello Lioness Nut Sale and don't forget to check out the Craft Show and Small Business booths from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
The Village Park will be abuzz with activity on Saturday as well. A Car, Truck, Motorcycle and Tractor show, with proceeds to benefit Project Home, will be taking place from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. There is a $10.00 entry fee per vehicle, and judging will be based on Popular Vote. The Community Club Ball Games start at 1:00 p.m., along with a Beer Garden. Live music starts at 1:00 p.m. with The Jimmys. The Rain Dogs will perform from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., and Andy and the Mad Dogs will play from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
The Monticello Lions will open their shelter for their famous hand-dipped cheese curds and mushrooms, along with non-alcoholic beverages. Please note, there are no carry-ins allowed into the Village Park.
Don't forget about the village wide garage sales! They start on Thursday, May 14, and go through Saturday, May 16. Times for the garage sales may vary to the individual holding the garage sale. Maps will be available at the Village Hall, Gempeler's Supermarket, Greenwoods State Bank and the Francois Citgo Station. There will be an Easter Seals truck near the fire station on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., to receive donations.
