Monticello Blood Drive Collects 44 Units

March 16, 2023

Dear Editor,

Thank you for publishing the announcement of the March Red Cross blood drive held in Monticello. We appreciate that you and the other local businesses help get the word out to lots of people.

The blood drive on the 4th of March was a success! Forty-five of our friends and neighbors came together to donate their time and 44 units of blood. The nurses were very efficient, and many donors used Rapid Pass so no one waited long.

The canteen was well supplied with food and drinks from local sources. Thank you to Gempeler’s Market for the nice selection of sliced cheeses and to the Washington Reformation Church and Karen Brugger for the delicious assortment of cookies. A special thank you to Subway of New Glarus for the sub sandwiches for this blood drive. It is nice to be able to offer a little different variety of foods at each of our three annual blood drives. Thank you, as always, to Culver’s of New Glarus for the “Pint for a Pint” coupons.

The Monticello Lions always help with set-up and tear-down and donate milk and crackers to the canteen. Thank you for your help with all of that, plus thank you to the Monticello Honor Society for help setting up. We appreciate being able to use the facilities at the Zwingli Church in Monticello for our blood drives.

Most of all, thank you to everyone that came to donate blood. We enjoy seeing all of you. The community support for our blood drives is wonderful, and we also appreciate everyone who comes from surrounding communities to donate. The camaraderie at the canteen is fun to see - old friends catching up and new friends getting to know each other. A million thanks to everyone!

Best Wishes to you from the Monticello Red Cross Blood Drive Committee
