Disch Urges Board to Stay Vigilant
October 20, 2022
Dear Editor,
This is in response to Jennifer Thayer’s recent letter to the editor.
Village Board Employees, please stay vigilant - do not let the leadership of the school “bully” you into a decision they did not do their own “homework” on. You’ve already rejected this request once on solid merit.
The referendum was not a yes/no vote on the access road of 8th and 11th, or any of the access roads for that matter, it was a referendum on a new school which I’m in full support of. 8th and 11th is NOT a safe intersection for a new road (perhaps a walking/biking path is suitable), there are absolutely NO sidewalks anywhere in the vicinity (and not on the village plan for years to come), and the current roads cannot withstand this type of daily bus traffic.
School Leadership: Change the site lines on Legler for access or better yet consider building on the current campus soccer fields?! Keeping the new building at the current campus would be much less expensive for the taxpayers. All school facilities would be maintained within the same large footprint making it easier for students, teachers, administrators, AND parents to move between for support and convenience. Close the current road out to H except for emergency purposes and bus traffic making the current campus safer.
Thank you to both boards for your hyper-vigilance around these topics.
Dorene F. Disch,
New Glarus
