Workers Support Mike Bare for State Assembly

July 28, 2022

Dear Editor,

My brothers and sisters of AFSCME PEOPLE proudly and enthusiastically endorse Mike Bare for State Assembly. AFSCME PEOPLE fights for candidates who will fight for us, and frontline workers know that Mike is an ally we can trust and count on. We’ve seen what he can get done as a member of the Dane County Board.

Mike organized support on the Board for a higher and more equitable raise for our lowest paid County workers, advocating for a fair, flat dollar amount increase rather than a percentage in this current budget. Mike has also opposed outsourcing work that full-time County employees should be doing at the Alliant Energy Center.

When Mike learned that workers at the Badger Prairie Health Care Center were unfairly denied a COVID leave benefit they had earned, he spent countless hours advocating for them. He successfully got a resolution passed to get those workers a payout of their benefits.

We need members of the Assembly representing us who respect and value state workers. Mike is relentlessly committed to workers’ rights to bargain and not be discriminated against. He also wants to roll back right to work and prevailing wage laws that harm workers.

Please join AFSCME workers in supporting Mike Bare.

Erik Anderson, President of AFSCME Local 65,

New Glarus
