Red Cross Blood Drive, December 30, 2020
January 7, 2021
Dear Editor,
The Red Cross charge nurse, Naomi, and staff, gave this response to the New Glarus Christmas time Blood Drive: “Thank you so much for having us once again and providing such amazing help! We really appreciate it. We had a fantastic day, collecting 66 whole blood units and 9 Power Reds which yield 18 units with only 7 deferrals. 81 donors presented with 84 units collected which when used will help 243 individuals.”
The appointments made by donors entering with Rapid Pass in hand made for a very smooth flow for donors and staff. No waiting but for a few minutes. This is the best pattern for future drives.
We appreciate the support of local businesses such as New Glarus Dairy-milk, Ruef’s Meat Market and Hoesly’s Meats-sausage, Maple Leaf Cheese and Chocolate Shop-cheese curds, and the very desirable Culver’s ‘Pint for Pint’ coupons. Other donors of refreshments Included: Karen Strahm, Lynette Reed, JoAnn Arn, Marge Klassy, Ruth Anderegg and Eloise Kuenzi.
Volunteer workers during the drive included: Pastor Darrell and Lynn Boomer, Dan and Marge Klassy, Madeline and Clara Kuenzi, David Way, Rick Battis, Tom and Linda Coughlin, Sara Siegenthaler and Bill Kuenzi.
We thank the New Glarus Bible Church for hosting this drive.
We look forward to 2021 and many more excellent Blood Drives throughout the greater New Glarus Community.
Respectfully submitted by the New Glarus Red Cross Committee,
Ruth Anderegg, Linda Coughlin, Sara Siegenthaler and Bill Kuenzi
