Act Quickly to Help Addicts

March 12, 2020

Dear Editor,

Addicts and alcoholics will go to extreme measures to stop the sickness or withdrawal to emerge that comes with using drugs and alcohol. When they start coming to reality and noticing their surroundings, actions, and terrible operating basis they will feel these terrible feelings of guilt and shame that they want to go away instantly. In this moment they become extremely desperate to find their next fix.

Me being an addict and alcoholic myself am here to tell you that they can also become that desperate to get help and get out of these terrible circumstances. It could come with going through withdrawal for too long and reality setting in, or having a traumatic experience happen that knocks them back into thinking remotely clear for the time being. Sometimes they might even just be fed up with the lifestyle itself. These moments of desperation will not last long at all. From this moment on, time is crucial, and it can become the enemy. Those holidays, birthdays, jobs, and anything else that you can use as an excuse won’t be there if this time does kill them. Do not let this window of opportunity close. Act fast and save their lives!
