Monticello Blood Drive Collects 30 Pints of Blood

October 24, 2019

Dear Editor,

Our last blood drive for 2019 was held on the 11th of October, at the Zwingli Church. The kind staff at the church allowed us to move out of the basement, due to flooding, and take over the first floor. We had a nice, dry place to entertain our hard-working Red Cross staff and blood donors.

Thank you to the 31 people who took time out of their day to give blood. Your effort brought in 30 pints of blood, which can be used to help as many as 90 people. That is a lot of positive impact on a lot of people!

Our thanks also go out to the kind and generous people who donated food to our canteen: Colony Brands for cheese and sausage and chocolate treats; Edelweiss Cheese for three types of cheese; Monticello Lions and Lionesses for milk and crackers and coffee; Anna Marie Davison for her homemade cookies (I may have tasted one of each kind-all delicious); Culver’s of New Glarus for their “Pint for a Pint” coupons. Plus, thank you to Rosemary Avery and Lucy Elmer for keeping the canteen well-stocked with food for the donors.

The Monticello Lions and the Monticello Honor Society helped with set-up and tear-down of the equipment. Thank you for all of your help; it takes a lot of time and effort!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2019 blood drives a success. Please put our 2020 drives on your calendars. They will be held on 28th of February, 26th of June, and 16th of October.

We hope to see you in 2020. Until then, we hope that you have a happy and safe holiday season!

The Monticello Red Cross Blood Drive Committee
