New Glarus Brewing Company was announced as one of the Top 10 Best Brewers in the World for the year 2018 as part of RateBeer Best. New Glarus Brewing Company was named number 8, and was the only brewery in Wisconsin to make the Top 10. In addition to naming the brewery to the Top 10 Best Brewers, a number of the beers produced also received Top 10 and Top 100 honors. In Best Beer by Style, was Mistral (#12); Specialty #3 Raspberry Tart (Gold); #4 Belgian Red (Gold); #6 Serendipity (Silver); In Low/Moderate Alcohol (under 4.6% ABV) #1 Raspberry Tart (Gold), and #2 WI Belgian Red (Gold).

New Glarus Brewing Company was created in 1993 by Daniel and Deborah Carey, who combined their considerable talents of brewing great beer and business management skills to build a state of the art award winning brewery that still honors the history and traditions of the Village of New Glarus. Dan and Deb Carey have worked hard to maintain their philosophy based on individuality, cooperation and the employment of 100% natural ingredients to produce world-class handcrafted beers for our friends "Only in Wisconsin". The brewery has grown to employ more than 100 people and thousands visit it every year. New Glarus Brewing Company has been employee owned since 2015.

RateBeer founder Joe Tucker and Portland beer personality Ezra Johnson-Greenough announced the awards on January 28, 2019, from River Pig Saloon in Portland, Oregon, via a Facebook Live broadcast.

The award ceremony's rich 17-year history is based on global participation of millions of independent consumer and industry reviewers. The result is a near-comprehensive assessment with commercial relevance and input from hundreds of regional expert administrators that uniquely qualify RateBeer Best as the world's most inclusive commercial beer awards program. RateBeer is home to the most experienced beer critics in the world, with more than four hundred master beer tasters sharing over four thousand full reviews. To complete this list, over ten million reviews were considered, encompassing beers from more than 30,800 brewers from six continents.
