Dear New Glarus and Area Residents,

Our August 3rd Blood Drive is rapidly approaching. As always, it will be held at the New Glarus Bible Church in their big and roomy, air conditioned gym. You will then follow up with our exceptional snacks: outstanding bars and cookies, along with local cheeses and sausages. Sorry, we are not allowed to give you the local beers or wines….

Just a little reminder here: Be sure and eat a healthy breakfast as well as drink plenty of fluids prior to your donation.

On a serious note, imagine if someone you love needed a blood type that was missing from the hospital shelves. This summer the Red Cross is experiencing serious shortages due to the slowing of blood donations through the vacation months.

Through the years since 1980, about when I started helping at these Blood Drives, friends and family from New Glarus that I personally know that have used the donations you have made: Hans Anderegg, Sr., seven pints following hip surgery. Karl Gmur, 20+ pints due to a heart attack. Due to leukemia: Fola Thacker, Gerald Weiss, and Kristy Nodorft.

And you probably know someone from your own family too that is here today because they received the life saving gift of blood when they needed it.

Come and donate August 3, at the New Glarus Bible Church, on the Corner of 3rd Avenue and 6th Street, from 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m. Bring a friend, or two!

O, how we need A friend or two to B there for us in our time of need!
