New Glarus Community Blood Drive

July 19, 2018

Dear New Glarus and Area Residents,

August 3, 2018, Noon to 6:00 p.m. Mark your calendar. Our summer Community Blood Drive is rapidly approaching. So once again I feel it is very important to remind all of you that will be donating again or for the very first time, the importance of eating a healthy diet of iron building fruits, vegetables and meat.

I know it has been very hot and the ice cream diet is cool and refreshing. BUT that delicious ice cream, unless it is on top of prunes all the time, is not going to give your blood enough iron to be collected. Also the day of the Blood Drive it is also very important for you to eat a good steak and eggs breakfast as well as sufficient fluids to be well hydrated before your donation. Well, maybe Raisin Bran…

We hope to see you on Friday, August 3, 2018! Bring a friend or two! As with every summer, donations are down, but the need is still there every day for all blood types. If you are an A, A-, AB, B, B-, O or O-, your blood type is desperately needed at this time. Come and be somebody’s hero!

Please join us at the New Glarus Bible Church, at the corner of 6th Street and 3rd Avenue. You will be rewarded with one of the finest Snack Tables around following your Blood Donation on August 3, 2018.

To make an appointment or to learn more, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit http://www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Remember to bring your Blood Donor card or two other forms of identification required at check-in.

At this time I would like to remember Dennis Streiff for all the years he helped us at the blood drives. Usually he was the first one to say, “put me down to help.”

Thank you,

Ruth Anderegg, Bill Kuenzi, Sara Siegenthaler, Linda Coughlin
