Bailey's Run Vineyard to Open in May

May 3, 2018

Bailey's Run owners, Todd and Janet Kuehl with their Goldendoodle, Bailey.

Green County will soon have a new vineyard/winery. Bailey's Run Vineyard is planning to open on May 18th, and a Grand Opening Celebration is planned for Memorial Day weekend, with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, May 24, at 5:30 p.m. The vineyard/winery is located about a mile west of the Village of New Glarus on Klitzke Road, just off of STH 39.

The winery is set on 12 scenic acres and the whole project has been labor of love for Todd and Janet Kuehl. They moved to the area in 2015, leaving the city and corporate life behind them. Soon after moving they began planting grapes and developing plans for the vineyard and winery. After cultivating and caring for their grapes, they had their first harvest in 2017. Everything was moving forward, construction began on the winery last fall, and is now nearing completion.

When Bailey's Run Vineyard opens, visitors will be able to enjoy a glass of wine either indoors or outside on the 132' deck with the amazing view of the country side.  There will be 14 different wines available, ranging from sweet whites to dry, oaky reds.  Nearly all the wines are made with local (Wisconsin grown) grapes to highlight the flavors of the area.  You can also sample local Green County meats and cheeses, as well as other seasonal offerings.

Some of their wines include:

Edelweiss – an ode to the Edelweiss flower that grows in the Swiss Alps. The crisp, slightly acidic white wine made from the Edelweiss grape grown at their vineyard.

Chalet White – is a crisp white wine that is made from cold-climate, Wisconsin grown Frontenac Blanc grapes. It is semi sweet and fruity.

Marquette – is a slightly dry and wonderfully oak aged wine, that is made from grapes grown at the vineyard. This dark ruby red wine has hints of black cherry, plum and vanilla with nice spice notes, and a hint of oak.

Everyone is invited to the opening and the celebration, or just stop in to visit and meet the Vineyard's namesake, the owner's friendly Goldendoodle, Bailey.
