Skatrud Announces Bid for Green County Sheriff
April 26, 2018
Dear Editor,
After 34 years of full-time law enforcement, almost 32 of which were spent serving Green County, I made the difficult decision to retire as Green County Sheriff in 2013. My family was happy to have my undivided attention as our parents began to face the challenges associated with becoming elderly.
Over the last five years I have had the opportunity to work with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Apprehension and Felony Enforcement Team and to work part-time with the Green County Sheriff's Office, primarily conducting background checks on potential new employees. During that time, I was told that my positive leadership as Green County Sheriff and supportive, team-based management style were deeply missed.
As a family, over the last year, we've discussed my return to full-time law enforcement. We concluded our best fit and the most benefit to the community is for me to once again serve Green County as their Sheriff.
During my career with Green County I've served as a Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sargent, Drug Detective, first DARE Officer, Detective Lieutenant, Chief Deputy and Sheriff. I've had the opportunity to also serve as a Green County Crime Stoppers Coordinator, a member and past president of the Green County Law Enforcement Administrators Association, a board member of the Wisconsin Narcotics Officers Association and one of the original members of the Green County Domestic and Intervention Team. I have also applied for and received approximately one million dollars in grant funding to service Green County.
I'm happy to announce that I will be a Democratic Candidate for Green County Sheriff, and I am energized and excited to serve the citizens of Green County!
