Public Schools Need Your Help

June 1, 2017

Dear Editor,

I care deeply about public education.  My kids both attend the public school in Dodgeville.  Just two years ago, deep cuts were made to public education, and it has hurt Wisconsin schools in so many ways.  And right now, the State Budget is being discussed again and will be voted on ~July 1st.  The budget determines how much funding our public schools will receive for the next two years (2017 – 2019).

At least there is a proposed $200 per student increase in funding in the proposed budget.  But until the votes are in, this money is not guaranteed.  I will do everything I can in the next few weeks to make sure my representatives know how important it is that this funding stays in the budget and doesn’t get cut in the middle of the night (literally).  Will you please join me?

Call your Senator and Assembly representatives and ask them to support the $200 per pupil funding increase.  Our youth, our community, and our state will all benefit greatly!

Jessica Wieczorek,

Dodgeville
