Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund
Dear Editor,
As the holidays approach, we want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has so generously supported Monticello’s Christmas Stocking Fund throughout the year. We are thankful that the organizers of the Homecoming motorcycle ride donated the proceeds from the event to the Christmas Stocking Fund. In addition, we are grateful to Wade Wittenwyler and everyone who helped with the Christmas Stocking Fund benefit held in October. The Christmas Stocking Fund is also fortunate to have received many individual monetary gifts and donations throughout the year. The community’s support of the Christmas Stocking Fund is truly remarkable - it is yet another reason why Monticello is such a great place to live!
The mission of Monticello’s Christmas Stocking Fund is to help families who need assistance in providing gifts for their children. The Christmas Stocking Fund also provides food baskets to families in need. The underlying principle is that no child, no matter how needy, should face an empty stocking on Christmas morning.
This year, we anticipate that the Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund will provide gifts for more than 60 children. The Monticello High School FCCLA members, along with other volunteers, will shop for clothes, toys, and other gifts. As always, parents will take the gifts home to wrap so that their children need not know the gifts came from the Christmas Stocking Fund.
We are currently seeking donations to support the Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund. Monetary donations can be made at Greenwoods State Bank or can be mailed to: Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund, c/o Ron and Jen Blumer, W4835 Pierce Road, Monticello, WI 53570.
In addition, Greenwoods State Bank will be sponsoring a giving tree to benefit the Christmas Stocking Fund. Stop by the Highway Location at 401 W. Coates Avenue for more information on how you can participate in the giving tree.
We will also be accepting monetary donations as well as donations of new toys and warm winter clothing on Saturday, December 10th, during Santa’s visit to the Monticello Fire Station.
If you are in need of help this Christmas, or if you know of families who could benefit from the assistance provided by the Christmas Stocking Fund, please contact us at rjblumer@tds.net or (608) 938-1067.
On behalf of Monticello’s Christmas Stocking Fund, thank you for your support and generosity – you are making a difference in the lives of many children and families!
Ron and Jen Blumer
