Why Habitat for Humanity is Good for New Glarus
Dear Editor,
Habitat strengthens communities, we build hope, and we offer an opportunity for families to help themselves. Habitat doesn’t give homes away but instead we partner with a qualifying family and setup an affordable mortgage plan. New Glarus has been a center point for Habitat Volunteerism throughout our decades of work in Green County. But, we have never built a home in New Glarus - we think it’s time! At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We have built 20 homes in Green County since 1991. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities, we build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves. Habitat gives a hand up - not a hand out.
Habitat is looking to buy (or be gifted) a lot in New Glarus for our next build. Are you someone who may be interested in being a part of this project in New Glarus?
Are you a land or homeowner with a lot that may be an option to discuss as a potential build site? We are looking for interested parties who may own a home or piece of property which could be an option for the next home build. If you, or someone you know, may be interested, please contact Habitat for Humanity of Green County to discuss further.
Habitat homes are high-quality that bring pride and joy to the neighborhood.
Check out our website at http://www.greencountyhabitat.org for examples of our past projects and to obtain more information on the home build process.
A frequently asked question is, Does Habitat give houses away? No, Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program. Habitat’s partner families buy the houses that Habitat builds and renovates. Habitat makes no profit on the sale. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through affordable monthly mortgage payments. Habitat’s homeowners also invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners.
