Wildcat Basketball Programs "Go Gold" to Raise Awareness in the Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Dear Editor,

The Belleville boys and girls basketball teams, along with the Belleville Sports Boosters, are teaming up with the American Family Children’s Hospital in an effort to raise awareness and funds in the fight against childhood cancer, the #1 cause of death of American children and adolescents. “Gold Out” nights will take place on Tuesday, January 26th, as the boys take on Wisconsin Heights and on Thursday, January 28th, when the girls tip off against Cambridge. All proceeds will be donated to the American Family Children’s Hospital Beat Childhood Cancer Fund. The American Family Children’s Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that wins widespread praise for its expert care and a warm, soothing atmosphere that enhances a child’s ability to heal. How very lucky we are to have such an amazing place so close to home.

Along with a “Gold Out” of the gym, the teams will be conducting a bake sale, a raffle, a “Fill the Bucket” race at half-time of each of the games, as well as selling “Gold Out” themed spirit items and a limited number of commemorative t-shirts. Additional events are also being planned to take place at the schools throughout the week and at the games as well.

So don your GOLD and come support your Wildcats and the American Children’s Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer! We thank you in advance for your support!

If you’d like to help more, visit the American Family Children’s Hospital’s website at uwhealthkids.org and select the Get Involved tab or you may drop off a donation at any of the school offices. Please make checks payable to the American Family Children’s Hospital Beat Childhood Cancer Fund.
