Habitat for Humanity of Green County is Looking to Build in New Glarus

Dear Editor,

At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We have built 20 homes in Green County since 1991. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities, we build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves. Habitat gives a hand up - not a hand out.

Green County Habitat has built homes in all corners of the county, with the most recent being built in Brodhead. As we start our next home build planning process (which takes hundreds of hours and approximately $100,000 to complete a home build) it was decided, by the Habitat Board, it’s time to build in New Glarus!

Habitat homes are high quality that bring pride and joy to the neighborhood. Check out our website at http://www.greencountyhabitat.org for examples of our past projects and to obtain more information on the home build process.

Some frequently asked questions:

· Does Habitat give houses away? No, Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program. Habitat’s partner families buy the houses that Habitat builds and renovates. Habitat makes no profit on the sale. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through affordable monthly mortgage payments. Habitat’s homeowners also invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners.

· Does Habitat only focus on building new houses? No, Habitat works in a number of different ways such as new construction and renovations.

Are you someone who may be interested in being a part of this project in New Glarus? Are you a land or homeowner with a lot that may be an option to discuss as a potential build site? We are looking for interested parties who may own a home or piece of property which could be an option for the next home build.
