Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

The New Glarus Police Department has established a fund called the New Glarus Police Department Community Relations Fund. This fund assists the New Glarus Police Department with year round community events for the youth of New Glarus. These programs include our Annual Bike Rodeo; the D.A.R.E. program; our community wide Halloween Safety initiative; our Child Identification Program; and helps out with the Shop with a Cop program, etc. All of the donations that are received in regards to this fund stay in the New Glarus Community, benefiting the youth of the Village. All donations that we receive are greatly appreciated, since we are not budgeted any money from the Village to assist with these programs. This fund is for the youth of New Glarus. Donations can be sent to the New Glarus Police Department made out to the “New Glarus Police Department Community Relations Fund”.

Also, for the past several years the Green County Law Enforcement Administrators Association (GCLEAA) has sponsored the “Shop with a Cop” program. This program is County wide and includes some areas even outside of Green County. The New Glarus Police Department is an active participant and sponsor of this program also. This is a program that helps underprivileged kids have a Merry Christmas that they might not have had without our help. If you would like to contribute to this program, checks need to be made out to “Shop with a Cop.” “Shop with a Cop” will be held December 5th this year at Wal-Mart.

If you have any questions, or would like to know more about the “New Glarus Police Department Community Relations Fund” or “Shop with a Cop” Program, feel free to contact me at the New Glarus Police Department.

Sincerely,

Sergeant Jeff Sturdevant, New Glarus Police
