Village of Monticello Introduces E-Waste Bin

March 16, 2023

The Village of Monticello recently acquired an e-waste bin, available during recycling center hours for Village of Monticello residents only.

Items are free to recycle, with the exception of Tube/CRT televisions and monitors which carry a $25.00 charge. Items accepted for free are computers, monitors (non-CRT), projectors, cables and cords, printers, UPS batteries, toners, keyboards, phones, flat panel televisions and radios. Absolutely no appliances will be accepted.

Items Accepted at the Recycling Center

Items that are accepted at the recycling center include cardboard (must be flat), catalogs, magazines, phone books, cereal and cracker boxes (flat), juice boxes (empty), paper including envelopes, junk mail, wrapping paper (no foil), newspapers, pizza boxes (minus the white liner), emptied and rinsed plastic bottles, emptied aerosol cans, clean and empty glass bottles and jars and aluminum cans, plastic bags (place in one bag please). Metal items may be disposed of in the scrap bin.

Items that are not recyclable include Styrofoam (this includes all food containers), light bulbs, food items, diapers/Depends, clothing, carpet and medical masks.

You may also buy trash stickers at the recycling center, they are $2.50 each. A sticker must be placed on each bag of trash that you set out for pick up. Stickers are also available at the Village Hall and Gempeler’s Supermarket ($2.75). Bags must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, in a 30-gallon or smaller bag.

Any items that are not suitable for recycling or regular trash pick up may be disposed of during spring and fall clean up days, which are held on the third Monday in April and October.

The Village of Monticello Recycling Center hours are Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and Saturday, from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

If you have any questions, you may call the Village Hall at (608) 938-4383.
