As winter draws to a close and we begin to look forward to springtime and the end of the 2022-23 school year, it is a time to reflect on those around us and how our graduating seniors have influenced us for the better. For Director of Bands Stephanie Meir, her senior band members have greatly impacted music in the last four years of their time in the Belleville High School community. Senior Pep Band Night offered Meir a chance to reflect on these eleven special seniors who have given her band program their all and who have strengthened music in Belleville throughout their time as Wildcats.

On February 23rd, Alexa Lindstrom, Destiny Sanabria, Skyler Beyer, Maddie Miller, Ella Blask, Hayden Boyce, Tony Diaz, Alex Shrader, Jackson Miyamoto, Holly Flick, and Angelo Dohm, all senior members of the pep band, were honored at the Belleville boys basketball game. These students have been involved in the music program for the past seven years and have dedicated many hours and nights in service to the school and community at various events. Mrs. Meir thanked them for their dedication, enthusiasm, and outstanding musicianship throughout the years.

Stephanie Meir acknowledged how special this group of graduating musicians are to her and shared what they have been able to offer to her music program.

"This year's band senior class are very hardworking students who exemplify dedication to the program. They have come to countless pep bands, community functions, parades, concerts, and rehearsals over the years, and done it enthusiastically. Their leadership has been crucial as we have worked at regaining our skills after the virtual pause during the pandemic. Thank you seniors for the joy you have brought to me and the community over the last seven years. I wish you the best of luck in your futures," says Meir.

The eighth graders were invited to play along with the high school pep band.

This special night offered one additional chance for her eleven seniors to make a greater impact on those who will continue to walk in their footsteps after graduation day in June, as eighth grade band students were invited to play alongside their older peers. It gave the eighth graders a taste of how wonderful the pep band is and perhaps will encourage them to participate in this fun activity as they enter Belleville High School next year.

Meir says, "The thing I love about pep band is how excited the students are to play pop music."

She enjoys the fun the group has in picking out their fall Homecoming selections together in the spring, noting that her students often will request certain songs that they like. For Meir, the pep band brings a dynamic energy into the band room right before and after the pep band performances. The excitement is palpable, and the band room comes alive with their energy and enthusiasm. These special seniors undoubtedly made pep band a wonderful experience in their time at Belleville High School and have continued to pave the way for a strong pep band under Meir's direction in the future!
