Several Injured in Thanksgiving Morning Crash

On Thanksgiving morning, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Green County Deputies, along with New Glarus Fire Department, New Glarus Area EMS, and New Glarus Police Department, responded to the intersection of CTH J and CTH A, in the Town of York, for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Kevin L. Hewitt, 67, Apple River, IL, was traveling eastbound on CTH A and turned northbound onto CTH J, when the vehicle was struck by another vehicle traveling southbound on CTH J. Hewitt and his passenger reported wearing their seatbelts and the airbags had deployed. Hewitt and his passenger reported non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. The southbound vehicle was operated by Gregory R. Nelson, 62, Madison. Nelson and his passenger reported wearing their seatbelts and the airbags had deployed. Nelson's vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Investigation resulted in Hewitt being cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way From Stop Sign. Hewitt was released pending court.
