After a three-year hiatus, RoboKnights have returned! RoboKnights is a First LEGO League (FLL) club at New Glarus elementary and middle school. Students learn to program LEGO EV3 robots, developing coding and critical thinking skills.
On Saturday, November 12, two teams from this club journeyed to Madison College for the annual coopertition. (No, that is not a spelling error. It is a cooperative competition.) The teams presented innovation projects they developed around the theme of energy, showed off their robot construction and coding, demonstrated their mastery of FLL core values, and ran the robot challenge course.
This program last ran three years ago, so the teams were very new to the entire experience. However, the 7th grade team, Waffle Turtles, was nominated for three different awards and earned the alternate slot to sectionals, which will occur on December 12. The mixed 4th and 5th grade team, We Got Kemistry, (the 'K' is for Knights), were nominated for the "Up and Coming" award, had a great learning experience and are excited to do even better next year.
Thank you to all the parents and the school for the support they provided to make this opportunity possible. We look forward to more students having the opportunity to learn coding and robotics in this fun, exciting environment.
