Get to Know the Monticello Chamber Board

March 17, 2022

Val Johnson, Chamber President

The Monticello Chamber of Commerce welcomes their board members for February 2022–February 2023! The local Monticello business community is actively represented by six leaders who bring their perspectives to the Board of Directors for the Monticello Chamber. These creative problem-solvers advise the Chamber and guide the policies and positions that keep our community strong.

Meet the Leadership Team

Val Johnson, Chamber President

Val was born and raised in Monroe. She holds an Applied Science Degree in Finance from Western Technical College. She has lived in Monticello for over ten years and has served on the Chamber Board for two terms. She is the Marketing Director with Woodford State Bank and has been with the bank for ten years. She is involved in multiple clubs/organizations. She lives with her fiancé, Jayson, in Monticello and has a daughter, Payton, that is a senior in high school this year. In her spare time, she is a drummer in the band, Funhouse.

Val is proud to say that she is a local and passionate about the Monticello community. "I enjoy networking and helping businesses grow. I think it's important to make community connections and to be a part of the solution of what our members need."

Bob Harvey, Chamber Vice-President

Bob moved to the Monticello area over 10 years ago. He has three children currently attending Monticello High School. His wife, Maria, owns her own business, MH HairInfinity LLC at Main Street Salon. Bob is the Branch Manager at Greenwoods State Bank in Monticello.

He has served on different boards throughout Monticello, including the Village and School Board. "Monticello is a great community to both live and work in and I looking forward to assisting the Chamber and to help the community of Monticello continue to grow."

Tracy Spotts, Chamber Treasurer

As a Monroe native, she grew up working with her family's commercial grain elevator and chemical/fertilizer business. She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science/Journalism degree from UW-Madison, with an emphasis in Marketing. After returning to Green County in 2003, she began Agri-Management Services LLC, providing bookkeeping, financial planning, and farm management services, and continues to operate as an independent crop insurance agent for Premier Insurance Solutions-Monroe. She also currently works alongside her husband, Chad, with their family's grain farm growing corn and soybeans throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. They reside on their farm in rural Monroe, where you may also see her helping at her mother-in-law's seasonal greenhouse, The Potting Shed.

She and Chad, along with their two sons, Noah and Troy, are proud to be active members of Green County. "It is so exciting to be part of a thriving and growing business community. Monticello has so much to offer. I look forward to helping facilitate continued growth, and being a resource for all of our members and community supporters."

Laura Curry, Chamber Secretary

Laura became a part of the Monticello community over 20 years ago, when she and her husband moved back to Wisconsin to raise a family. Both of their daughters are graduates of Monticello School. When Laura's husband passed away suddenly in 2009, she felt first-hand the generous and giving spirit of this community. She is in year twelve of her role as District Bookkeeper for Monticello Schools and has been an active member of many parent clubs during that time. She also served a term on the Monticello Village Board and worked at Barnaby's serving the community good spirits.

"Monticello has so many wonderful things to offer and I'm looking forward to assisting the Chamber in bringing them to light."

Lukas Kolasch, Chamber Board Member

Bob Harvey, Chamber Vice-President

"I have been in Monticello all but the first year of my life. I grew up in Monticello, and went to Elementary/Middle/High School here. I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Exercise Health Science with a Minor in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. In 2019, I was fortunate enough to join Freitag Financial, now a branch of Wealth Distribution Strategies. In addition to my full-time position at WDS, I am a performance coach at Monticello Schools, New Glarus Schools, as well as privately. I am blessed to be a part of a wonderful family with my partner, Hailey, and our amazing son, Reign. What drew me to the Monticello Chamber of Commerce was the desire to be an active member of our community, working towards serving the community itself, as well as all those in it, whether they are businesses or general community members. Being a driven person with the desire to be a source of positive impact on our wonderful little town, I believe that a way I can do that is to be an active board member on the Chamber. It is a great honor to serve this community with a group of high quality individuals from not only this community, but from surrounding communities that care intensely about the successes within Monticello. She also substitutes teaches in the Monticello School District and Mineral Point School District. April enjoys spending time with her dog, Oliver.

"What I like most about the Monticello Chamber are the relationships it brings and finding the hidden gems and talented people in the community."
