The New Glarus High School Mock Trial team participated in the Regional Mock Trial recently. Front Row (L-R): Jayce Ace and Madeline Thoemke. Back Row (L-R): Aditya Bhattacharya, Dylan Fritz, Aden Gobeli, Levi Belknap, Sam Copeland, Mr. Dan Gartzke, Lily Lounsbury, Roman Kendrick, Lola Endicott, Nolan Belknap, Abigail Biank, Emma Mondloch, Amalia Morrison, Camryn Arnett.
The New Glarus Mock Trial Team wrapped up the 2022 season on Saturday, February 12, and Sunday, February 13. The 15-member team competed in a civil trial against Middleton High School, Brookfield Academy and Wisconsin Park High School.
Once again this year, due to the pandemic restrictions, the students' performances were held over Zoom, which adds different challenges to the competition, such as technical issues, video, and sound difficulties. The team has worked hard since early November and presented their side of the case with strong lawyer arguments and dramatic witness portrayals.
This year also marks the end of an era, as Lawyer Coach Dan Gartzke has decided to step back from his position. Coach Gartzke established the Mock Trial Team at the New Glarus High School over 20 years ago. The impact of his decision to spearhead this competition has had a lasting impact on many students who have been inspired to follow careers in the legal profession because of their involvement with the Mock Trial Team. Coach Gartzke's leadership and guidance will be missed. Thank you, Coach, for volunteering to help the team learn about the law.
