Landscaping Project: State Champions Sign on Highway 69 in New Glarus
November 25, 2021
There is a lot of excitement in the Landscaping and Floral Design class at New Glarus High School. Our class was given the opportunity to do some landscaping around the state athletic champion sign in front of the school along Highway 69.
We started by creating an online design for the sign. Then, we started selecting unique flowers at Blumenladen, including hostas, sedum and more. The first two days we started with digging into the ground around the sign. Next, we outlined the sign with stone bricks, which was the longest part of the process. We added six plants in front of the sign to create color and contrast. We finished it off with red mulch that created a bright display.
Greta Nelson commented about the project, "Overall I really liked the project and thought that it was cool to see our concepts progress from computer images into a real-life model. I especially enjoyed the hands-on aspect of this project. I think this was a good way for our class to enhance the aesthetic of our town through a hands-on experience."
