The Bonnie J. Gerner Memorial Scholarship Program
May 6, 2021
“Only a life lived for others is worth living.” - Albert Einstein
Bonnie J. Gerner lived her life by this quote. She poured her heart and soul into helping others - her family, her church, and her community. Bonnie devoted countless hours to supporting Green County through her selfless volunteerism to the 4-H program, her church, Family Promise of Green County, and the Green County Ag Chest. In addition to her incredible devotion to Green County, Bonnie worked a full-time job and still found the time and energy to enjoy her favorite hobbies - baking, gardening and building lifelong friendships. Bonnie never slowed down and she never gave up. In fact, her family often wondered how she did it all.
In the words of Elizabeth Andrew, “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they have the heart.” And Bonnie certainly lived up to this truth.
If this past year has proven anything, it’s that we need volunteers now more than ever. We present this scholarship in honor of Bonnie J. Gerner, her incredible life, and her selfless devotion to helping others.
