Belleville Public Library Plans Big Move to New Home

February 25, 2021

It’s time to move to our new building! The current Belleville Public Library will close its doors at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, to move our collection and do the final work needed to get the new building operational.

The new Library, at 20 S. Park Street, will begin a phased opening on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Due to pandemic restrictions and a commitment to our community’s safety, initially a limit of ten people will be allowed in at a time to pick up library materials and request services like photocopying and faxing. As COVID case numbers continue to decline, expanded access and services will be phased in.

No library services will be available for the two-week period of this move. Please make sure to pick up any library holds that have come in for you by March 3rd.

People who need state and federal tax forms are encouraged to contact the Library before March 3rd.

If you would like to check out something from our shelves, library staff will be happy to help you select materials and will have them bagged for you to pick up. Staff is also happy to assist with photocopying, faxing, and printing.

The library will be open for Express Pickup on Tuesday, March 2, in addition to our regular Monday and Wednesday hours, to provide extra time for people to get their holds before we close.

Please keep any items that you have checked out until after March 17th. We would appreciate not having to move them. The outside drop box will be locked. Don’t worry about things being late. No fines will be charged for overdue items. Our library is fine free. The new library will have both a walk-up drop box near the entrance and a drive-up drop box on the east side.
