Monroe Clinic Orthopedics is celebrating 100 procedures using the latest advancement in joint replacement surgery, the Mako® Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology System.

"We are thrilled with the outcomes our joint replacement patients have had using the Mako® system," said Orthopedics Department Manager Christine Nelson. "In comparison to a traditional joint replacement procedure, Mako® patients usually experience less pain and heal more quickly. Celebrating 100 patients enjoying these benefits is really exciting."

The Mako® technology uses a preoperative CT Scan to create a patient-specific plan. The CT data is also used to create a 3D model of the patient's anatomy and more accurate implant positioning.

Throughout each procedure, the surgical team is continually validating the patient's individual plan. This ensures accuracy of implant placement.

Dr. Lance Sathoff and Dr. Jonathan Swindle are both Mako®-certified and trained. They began performing Mako® -assisted procedures in November 2019.
