Fatal Automobile Crash Near Juda

At approximately 3:35 p.m., on Sunday, June 28, 2020, Deputies responded to the intersection of STH 11 and CTH S, in the Town of Jefferson, for a two-vehicle crash. Green County EMS and the Juda Fire Department also responded.
Investigation revealed that Darius C. Marzette, 39, Freeport, IL, was operating a black 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe. He was traveling eastbound on STH 11. Raymond A. Stonehocker, 82, Davis, IL, was traveling northbound on CTH S. Stonehocker was operating a gray 2014 Subaru Forester. Raymond Stonehocker failed to yield the right of way to Marzette. The vehicles collided in the intersection, causing severe damages to both vehicles. The vehicles were later towed from the scene.
Raymond Stonehocker sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was later transported to the UW Hospital. A passenger in Stonehocker’s vehicle, Dorothy E. Stonehocker, 79, Davis, IL, was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital and later transferred to the UW Hospital. The Green County Coroner’s Office later notified the Sheriff’s office that Dorothy was deceased, as a result of the crash. Safety belts were worn in Stonehocker’s vehicle and the airbags deployed.
Darius C. Marzette and his passenger, a juvenile male, were transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Darius Marzette was wearing a safety belt and airbags deployed. The juvenile was in a safety restraint seat.
The crash remains under investigation.
