June is Dairy Month

June is Dairy Month, the perfect time to celebrate Wisconsin's dairy heritage. While this year June Dairy Month doesn't include the many Dairy Breakfasts and other events, it is still a chance to recognize the important role that dairy farmers and their beautiful cows play in the daily lives of all Wisconsinites. Since the Safer at Home order, Wisconsin dairy farmers, processors and communities have joined forces to provide more than 10 million pounds of milk, cheese, butter, and other dairy products measured on a milk equivalency basis (equal to 1.2 million gallons of milk), to the state's growing number of food insecure.

Governor Tony Evers said, "June Dairy Month is a long-standing, proud tradition in our state. There's no better way to start the summer than by eating plenty of curds and ice cream to support our dairy industry. But dairying is more than just producing high-quality food: it's an integral part of our state's heritage. It's why we call ourselves America's Dairyland."

Help support farmers and the dairy community by drinking a glass of milk or a slice of cheese every day.
