Street Trees Available to New Glarus Residents

January 30, 2020

Village of New Glarus property owners interested in getting new terrace trees are invited to participate in the village’s 24th Annual Arbor Day Tree Planting. Plans are now under way for this spring’s planting, which will occur in early May.

Under the planting program, property owners purchase trees from the village for a minimal cost. The trees are planted by local high school and adult volunteers. The trees available for purchase come from a reputable nursery and are 6 to 8 feet tall, with a trunk diameter of approximately one inch. Residents can choose the kind of tree planted in their terraces from a variety of choices provided by the village forester.

Since the Arbor Day program began in 1997, over 1,100 trees have been planted in New Glarus’s street terraces and parks.

Anyone interested in more information about purchasing trees or volunteering to plant should call the Village Forester Paul Jennrich at (608) 527-5833.
