"A Morning With FDR" at GCGS February 1st Meeting

January 30, 2020

Come to the February 1st meeting of the Green County Genealogical Society to experience “A Morning With FDR.” Ed O’Brien, a retired educator and historic re-enactor, will visit our meeting as Franklin D. Roosevelt. He will tell us about his early life, the events that led him to the White House, and the hard times that faced the American people during his terms as President. Elected during the Great Depression, FDR created a series of vast programs to address economic and employment concerns. He used press conferences and radio to take his messages to the people and restore confidence in the government. He again used his communication skills to rally the nation after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The only President elected to four terms, FDR was also the only President that almost a generation of Americans knew.

The Green County Genealogical Society meeting will be held in the second floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Avenue, at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Refreshments are available for 15 minutes before the meeting. Visitors are always welcome and there is no cost to attend. You may call Sharon Mitchell at (815) 868-2416, or Donna Kjendlie at (608) 921-1537 if you have questions. Please leave a message if we are not able to answer so we can return your call.
