James C. Hulburt, age 69 of New Glarus, and formerly Belleville, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 21, 1949 in Madison, the son of H. James and Beatrice (Heine) Hulburt.

Diana F. Fjelstad, age 78 of New Glarus, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019, at At Home Again in Rio, WI. She was born on February 23, 1941, the daughter of Tom and Elvira (Groener) Mattison.

David W. Green, New Glarus, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2019, in Passau, Germany, while on a cruise on the Danube River with his wife, Susan (LeVan). Dave was born in Beckley, West Virginia, on March 13, 1944, to Bernard and Alberta Green.

Marie Slotten of Saline, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2019, at the University of Michigan Hospital after suffering a stroke on June 14, 2019. Born Katherine Marie Streiff in New Glarus, Wisconsin, on August 26, 1931, Marie was the sixth of seven children to Katherine (Figi) and Melvin Streiff.

Jacob Karr, age 23, a former Belleville resident, died on Monday, June 24, 2019, in Texas. He was born on November 17, 1995 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, the son of David and Laurie (Welsh) Karr.

PATRICIA GARSKE

On Saturday, June 29, 2019, Patricia (Holcomb) Garske passed away at the age of 69, after a mean fight with cancer she couldn’t win. Pat was born on January 22, 1950, in Monroe, WI, to Robert and Viola (Wirth) Holcomb, and grew up on a farm outside of Monticello.

Walter H. Ringhand, age 100 of Monroe, died on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Walter was born on February 4, 1919 in Monticello, the son of Herman and Wilma (Schwartzlow) Ringhand.

Robert Edwin Buehl, 93, proud farmer, avid conversationalist, and the patriarch of his family, departed from this life on Sunday evening, June 30, 2019, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Bob, a resident of the Glarner Lodge in New Glarus, was born in Monroe Township on January 30, 1926, the first child of Edwin and Clara (Teuscher) Buehl.

Jan D. Bartelt, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019. He was born on October 9, 1935, in Mayville, WI, to Edward “Adel” and Edith (Grabow) Bartelt.

Mary Louise (Lou) Hustad passed away on July 3, 2019 after a short illness, surrounded in her last days by many family members. Mary Lou was born on March 9, 1928, to parents Gottfried (G. F.) Klassy and Louisa Alice Kundert Klassy.

Joyce Roosli, age 89 of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at her home. She was born on July 15, 1929, in Gratiot, WI.

MARTHA E. VAMSTAD

Martha E. Vamstad, age 58, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019, at the New Glarus Home, a little over a year after she was reunited with her mother as her roommate. Martha was able to share a room at the home with her mother until she passed on June 19, 2018. Martha’s heath had declined in recent years as she battled the effects of Congenital Rubella Syndrome (German Measles). Martha was born on February 19, 1961, to Everett and Dorothy Vamstad, she was the fourth child joining Dan, Elizabeth, and Elaine.

Willard Meland, 95 of Belleville, died July 14, 2019, at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. He was born December 20, 1923, to Lawrence and Anna (Mitmoen) Meland of rural Belleville. He was one of 14 children.

Tina was raised in Iron Mountain, Michigan, the thirteenth child born to Nunzio and Isabella (D’Alphonso) Gianunzio, immigrants from Capistrano, Italy.

Richard “Dick” H. Lehr, age 81 of Monticello, WI, passed away in his home of 79 years on August 29, 2019, while surrounded by his family. Dick was born on March 19, 1938, in Monroe, WI, to John and Lenza (Swartz) Lehr.

Daniel Curtis “Slim” Cisewski, age 54 of Brooklyn, WI, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born on April 1, 1965, in Menomonie, WI, the son of Leonard and Shirley (Peterman) Cisewski.

Leon E. Hustad, age 83, died on January 25, 2019, at his home. He was born on December 28, 1935, in Madison, WI, to his parents, Leonard and Evelyn (Anderson) Hustad.
