Sue Moen

Members of the Friends of the Chalet and artist Chuck Bauer highlighted recent art restoration projects at the Wine Walk Event this fall. Mr. Bauer, a local artist, has been assisting the Friends with identifying appropriate pieces for restoration, procuring estimates from a Chicago company, Restoration Division, and assisting with transport and framing of the pieces. He has personally funded a number of the restorations and framing. Grant monies from the New Glarus Community Foundation were also used on two of the pieces.. Artworks on display that have recently been restored include a water color, The Church House at Salisbury, 1822 Child's sampler, another water color, Waiting in the Gallery and the most recent a Dutch oil on canvas from the 1600's. The Friends which to extend their appreciation to Mr. Bauer and the New Glarus Community Foundation. Thru their generosity, these pieces, will be on display and be viewed by generations to come.
