New Truancy Program and Goals of Truancy Diversion

Green County United Prevention Professionals for Youth (GUPPY) is excited to announce their new opportunities for members of the Green County community to come together for intentional networking, program sharing, and professional development on important issues that affect youth.
On Friday, February 8, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at the Green County Justice Center (lower level), GUPPY will be hosting a discussion on the new truancy program and discussing the goals of truancy diversion in our county. Truancy is often an indicator of future delinquent behavior, making addressing truancy at a county level and having a county wide discussion about it important for both our youth and their future.
Plans for upcoming monthly GUPPY meeting topics include: March 8th – Teen Suicide; April 12th – Vaping; May 10th – Self-Harm.

GUPPY hopes to monthly bring together at least one representative from each stakeholder agency to create a meaningful and relevant discussion, which might serve as a launching point for collective action. While in-person participation is optimal, GUPPY now offers the opportunity to connect to monthly presentations by phone or video conferencing. Presentations are also recorded for later viewing or sharing with an interested colleague or community member. Information for connecting remotely for each monthly discussion will be available at least two days prior to the meeting on the GUPPY website.
GUPPY meetings are always held on the 2nd Friday of the month at 1:00 p.m., at the Green County Justice Center, 2841 6th Street, Monroe, in multipurpose rooms 2-3 of the lower level. All are welcome to come participate in these meetings. GUPPY is a community coalition group connecting school district counselors, law enforcement, human services, health, court agencies, non-profits, and community volunteers who care about our future adult citizens and address youth related issues affecting our young people in Green County.
A variety of timely resources contributed by participating GUPPY agencies are listed on the GUPPY website, including upcoming community events and professional development webinars, as well recent reports on risk behavior topics.
