Bring the entire family to the 14th annual Harvest Moon Festival on Friday, September 28, from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. It’s an autumnal celebration of the natural world in a setting with wide vistas of prairie and marsh surrounding Dane County’s beautiful Lussier Family Heritage Center. This is a great event, rain or shine!

Harvest Moon Festival features live wildlife such as a Red-Tailed Hawk, frogs and insects. Over 30 interactive exhibits are on display from groups such as the International Crane Foundation, UW-Madison Entomology Department, Aldo Leopold Nature Center, UW Arboretum, the Department of Natural Resources, UW-Madison Forest and Wildlife Ecology, Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies at UW-Madison, Dane County Tree Council, Rock River Coalition and many others.

The Lussier Family Heritage Center is located at 3101 Lake Farm Road, Madison, just southwest of Monona off the beltline on South Towne Drive.

Also enjoy a locally-sourced silent auction, a blazing bonfire, s’mores, kettle corn popped on-site, and live bluegrass from the Poor Hearts. A chili and homemade pie supper is available for purchase.

Hosted by the Friends of the Capital Springs Recreation Area, the Harvest Moon Festival supports ongoing environmental education programming, community outreach and park improvement projects at the Recreation Area. The event is sponsored in conjunction with Dane County Parks, the Department of Natural Resources, Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, and Carlson Black O’Callaghan & Battenburg LLP.

Two all-terrain wheelchairs are available for use at no charge - please call (608) 224-3606 to reserve. Admission to Harvest Moon Festival is $5.00 per person, children five and under are free.
