Schiesser to Exhibit Scherenschnitte Art at Monroe Arts Center

Creating scherenschnitte is a challenge of cultural study and heritage interests brought together into an old Swiss art form. A piece of paper and a pair of scissors are all that is needed. These self-taught techniques were gleaned by mother and daughter, Elda and Linda Schiesser of New Glarus, Wisconsin, from a book that was purchased during a 1985 trip to Switzerland. Each design is meant to convey a message or idea.
Sadly, Elda passed away on November 26, 2017, at 99 years of age.
