A New Start: The Story of a Group of People Who Helped Nala Find a Home

April 23, 2017 was the fourth annual National Lost Dog Awareness Day. The following is the story of Nala, who was rescued and has found her "furever" home.

The call was dispatched as a calf loose in the village of Monticello.

"I have the police scanner on at the office so we can be ready to cover an incident if necessary," explains Katie Pederson, who is the Office Manager at the Post Messenger Recorder.  "I've heard a lot of strange things dispatched, but this one caught my attention because it was an animal, and I'm an animal lover."
