Culinary Trifecta – Three Chefs Present A Taste of Switzerland

A trio of chefs from New Glarus Hotel, Kurt Kline, Roland Fürst and Mike Nevil, will present "A Culinary Tour of Switzerland" at this year's A Taste of Spring by Monroe Arts Center on May 1st. Fürst and Nevil are co-owners of the New Glarus Hotel along with their wives, Megan Fürst and Shawna Nevil.
From classic fairy tales to Hollywood blockbusters, the "rule of three" principle suggests that things in threes are more satisfying than any other number of things. The principle is certain to hold true when a trio of chefs prepare Monroe Arts Center's (MAC) "A Taste of Spring" dinner event on Monday, May 1, at Ludlow Mansion-Peppercorn Banquet Room, 1417 Mansion Drive, Monroe, Wisconsin.
Roland Fürst, Mike Nevil, and Kurt Kline – all of the New Glarus Hotel – are teaming up to host a culinary tour of Switzerland. Fürst, a Swiss-trained chef and native of Rothenthurm in central Switzerland, is taking the lead for the evening and will prepare the main course. Nevil, a New Glarus native who honed his cooking skills at a ski resort in Unterwasser, Switzerland, will present the salad. The pair will depend on the expertise of Kurt Kline to create an elegant dessert finale. Dinner will be served with a series of fine wines chosen to complement each of the five courses.
With even more proof that good things come in threes, consider the geographic location of Switzerland – a country that borrows cuisine, regionally, from neighboring France, Germany, and Italy. The menu for A Taste of Spring will feature tastes reflective of those three regions, leading one to recognize Switzerland as the original "melting pot" – perfect for a country with cheese fondue as their iconic national dish. But for a special event like A Taste of Spring, Chef Fürst and Chef Nevil plan to dazzle those attending with a classic yet perhaps more unexpected appetizer of Swiss-French origin.
In addition to fine dining, Monroe Arts Center's fundraising event includes a silent auction as well as a live auction – with Freeport, Illinois, auctioneer Doug Munda back by popular demand to lead the high-spirited bidding. Live music for the evening will be provided by The Nick Moran/Paul Hastil Duo from Madison.
