William Phillip, Rev. Ron Nybroten and the current pastor, Rev. Gene Talley. A celebration will be held on May 7th.

The community is invited to help celebrate 50 years of ministry at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. The dedication of Shepherd of the Hills took place on April 30, 1967, with the installation of its first pastor, Rev. William Dargatz. Shepherd of the Hills has been served by a total of four pastors over the past 50 years, including the Rev. William Phillip, the Rev. Ron Nybroten and the current pastor, the Rev. Gene Talley.

Shepherd began its celebration on October 16, 2016, with a reenactment of the first service and will culminate its 50th celebration on Sunday, May 7th. The celebration will include a worship service at 10:30 a.m., with the Bishop Mary Froiland, of the South Central Synod of the ELCA, as the guest speaker.

The service will be followed by a dinner to be held in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to attend. If you plan on attending the dinner, reservations must be made and paid for no later than April 16, 2017. The cost of the dinner is $8.50 for adults, and $6.50 for children under the age of 10.

A silent auction will be held from April 2 until Noon on May 7th, to bid on a quilt made by ladies of the church. The beautiful black, yellow and white design quilt is on display at the church and the highest bid will be posted weekly. Bid as often as you like to increase your chances of taking home this handmade quilt. The winner will be announced at the dinner on May 7.

For more information, to make reservations, or to bid on the quilt, please contact Linda Hiland at (608) 527-2036.
