In last weekend's presentation of Cinderstein, Ingrid (Sarah Blumer), Dr. Frankenstein (Austin Blumer) and Igor (Kyle Walters) decide to perform an experimental brain transplant on Cinderella (Rachel Love).
Monticello High School students presented Cinderstein by Kamron Klitgaard on Saturday and Sunday, March 4th and 5th. The play was directed by Paul Burk and Kim Becker.
According to the director's notes, Cinderstein was a unique play based on the classic story of Cinderella. It was also a play within a play, where the plot of the play was controlled by a Director (Cassie Schenkel) who does her best to control the crazy cast. The cast does their best to confuse the director, the audience and themselves.
During Cinderstein, the audience met Cinderella's condescending adoptive family and witnessed their belittling attitude until Cinderella's fairy "Goshmother" arrives in time to save her. In a twist from the well known fairy tale, Dr. Frankenstein is introduced, along with his trusty servant, Igor, and his ugly assistant, Ingrid.
All of the characters converge upon the castle for the famous ball when the prince meets Cinderella. The director's notes added that the directors could relate to the chaos/craziness that occurs during rehearsals!
