Francis Beers has generously donated $1,000 to the Stuessy-Kuenzi New Glarus Post #141 to support the annual scholarship to a graduating New Glarus High School student. His donation will add to the existing Walter Ott Scholarship, to be renamed the Walter Ott/Francis Beers Scholarship.
Francis is a veteran of 24 years in the United States Marine Corps and the Wisconsin Air National Guard. He was designated as an Atomic Soldier because he participated in nuclear testing in Nevada during the time when weapons effects were being studied. Francis served the New Glarus area as a rural mail carrier and has always supported the youth of the community.
