A Blue Star Banner was presented to Larry and Jen Jackson, parents of Airman Ben Jackson, at the New Glarus Veterans Memorial Hall on the evening of December 28, 2016. Making the presentation was Steve Hodgson, Commander of Stuessy-Kuenzi New Glarus American Legion Post #141.

Blue Star Service Banners are displayed by families who have a loved one serving in the armed forces, including activated members of the National Guard and Reserves, whether the family member is a son, daughter, brother, sister, wife, husband, cousin, grandchild, etc. The banner displayed in a window of a home and shows a family's pride in their loved one serving in the military. The world should know of those who give so much for liberty.

Airman Jackson, a June graduate of New Glarus High School, entered active duty for his basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, on September 13, 2016. He will leave for his Technical Training at Sheppard Air Force Base, also in Texas, on January 2, 2017. He will train in the specialty of Aerospace Propulsion.
