Back to School Safety

 


The first day of school is just around the corner! The Dane County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind motorists to exercise a heightened awareness in the early morning hours and after school when children are present. Children do not always follow the rules of the road and they may enter the street from between cars, ride their bike through a red light or into traffic. Potential hazards are much easier to perceive if you are driving at or below the posted speed limits.

A new state regulation now requires all school buses built after January 1, 2005, to have amber lights to alert drivers...
