New Glarus High School FCCLA Chapter Attends National Leadership Conference

The New Glarus High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) attended the National Leadership Conference in San Diego, California. The conference was held from July 2nd-July 8th. The National FCCLA Conference was held for all 6th-12th grade members from across the country to assist students in developing leadership skills while encouraging networking with other FCCLA members. Students had the opportunity to attend leadership academies, evaluate National competitions and compete in Competitive STAR Events.

Karstyn Rossing and Olivia Woodmansee, members of the New Glarus High School FCCLA chapter, attended Nationals this year along with adviser Julie Martin. Karstyn was attending as a National Competitor in Life Event Planning. In this event, Karstyn competed in front of judges and explained how to manage the costs and perform a cost analysis of an event she organized and planned. This event was based on the criteria that it would bring changes and new experiences while accompanying financial challenges. Karstyn chose to analyze the cost of planning a Pool Party for 50+ attendees. She received Gold, the highest award, at the National Conference! Olivia was in attendance in her capacity as the Wisconsin State President for FCCLA. While in San Diego, Olivia attended many leadership workshops to bring back new leadership development strategies to the state of Wisconsin.
