Heidi Play to be held in Village Park Along With Music Fest

This year the Heidi Festival has paired up with Music Fest to provide a weekend of entertainment in the New Glarus Village Park. The festival will be held June 24-26.

One of the highlights of the festival is the presentation of Johanna Spyri's classic play, Heidi.

In the past the play has been held in the High School auditorium. This year, due to construction at the school, the play will be held in Village Park.

In order to make this possible, the play has been condensed a bit. The play remains a heartwarming story of Heidi, her gruff grandfather, and their love of the majestic Alps of Switzerland.

The performances are staged by local actors, in a warm presentation that includes live goats and kittens on stage!

Performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

On Friday evening, the New Glarus Lions Club will be holding their annual Chicken BBQ in Village Park, starting at 5:00 p.m.

There will also be a Craft Fair, and Mini Business Expo on Saturday and Sunday on Third Avenue.

Music Fest is sponsored by the New Glarus Youth Committee. With the monies brought in from this festival the group assists the youth of the community. Past donations include extra basketball court space and pool slide at the Village Park, bleachers at the football field, playground equipment at the New Glarus Woods State Park, Junior Great Books at the New Glarus Grade School and many more.
