Since the start of the new year, Belleville FFA members have been participating in local and state events.  On January 8th and 9th, two members participated in the State FFA Half-Time Conference in Stevens Point.  The chapter President, Adam Laufenberg, and Vice President, David Statz, joined about 500 other FFA members from around the state to learn about leadership and chapter development.  This conference is designed to help guide the leaders of the FFA chapters into the second half of the school year.  They attended sessions hosted by the State FFA officers and collaborated with peers from other FFAs to share and gain ideas.  Adam and David had a great time meeting new people and learning more about the FFA.

Then, on February 1st, Belleville FFA took part in the FFA District Speaking Contest at Parkview High School.  The members who participated in this were Clarice Loeffelholz, Denise Rankin, Rachel Uebelacker and Amanda Lettman. Clarice and Denise competed in Job Interview competition, which included creating a cover letter and resume.  They also had to complete a job application and then participate in a mock interview with the judges. Rachel did the Extemporaneous Speaking contest, where she was given 30 minutes to prepare a five-minute speech on a random agricultural topic and then present it to the judges. Amanda memorized and recited the five paragraph FFA Creed and competed against the other freshmen at the event.  Belleville did not bring home any plaques, but these members gained some valuable communication skills and experience.
