New Glarus High School Wins Capitol South in Math Competition

The New Glarus High School Varsity math Team celebrating their Capitol South victory and Pi Day. Starting at the "3," the mathletes are: Max Howden, Michael Jennrich, Eric Winkelman, Rachael Schieldt, Jeneva Ford, Brianne Roska, Sam Barr, Trisha Wiese, Tamara Elzen, Ryan Dull, Sarah Marsh, Jacob Larson and Zach Way.

The 2014 New Glarus High School Math Team featured a combined total of 30 years of competition experience. The 2015 squad had half as much experience, but they won first place for the South Division at the Capitol Conference Math Competition spring meet. The top scorer (and the top scorer for the South Division) was Sam Barr, who was attending her first math meet. The Varsity team finished the meet second overall amongst all twelve Capitol Conference schools.

JV brought their best and took second in the South Division, with only three quarters of a team! The rules allow eight competitor...
