Hello everyone, my name is Danielle Schneider. I am the 2018 Green County Fairest of the Fair. I am the daughter of Dan and DarLyne Schneider. I grew up on a small farmette south of Monroe. I have one more semester at Blackhawk Technical College. I will be graduating with an Associate's Degree in Agribusiness Science and Technologies. After I graduate I plan to find a job in international commodity grain sales. Being involved in 4-H and FFA, I had always looked forward to what the fair has to offer for the youth. Now, as a general leader of the Hiawatha 4-H club, I still continue to look forward to the fair every year.
The Green County Fair will be held July 18th through the 22nd, with some actioned packed days. There will be fair entry judgings, live music, bull riding and barrel racing, truck and tractor pulls, and of course a demolition derby. New this year we have special price promotions going on as well, like free Grandstands/Colony Brands amphitheater events, Military Appreciation Day, Emergency Services day, kid's day and pioneer day.
We kicked off the week on Wednesday, July 18th. The C&C Bull Riding and Barrel Racing started at 7:00 p.m., and it was also Military Appreciation Day, where any Military personnel, past or present, got into the fair for free. We thank you for your service by honoring you this day at the fair.
Thursday, we have the Badger State Truck and Tractor Pull, starting at 7:00 p.m. If you wish to sit in the pits, passes will be 15 dollars.
Friday has been named Emergency Services Day. Free admission is for all Police Officers, Firefighters, and EMT personnel with a valid agency ID. Friday is also Special Needs Day, with free carnival rides and parking for special needs persons from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Enjoy entertainment in the Hospitality Tent and the Green County Local Truck and Tractor Pull in the Grandstands.
Saturday is Kids Day, with free admission for kids 11 and under until 1:30 p.m. There are many events happening on Saturday, so stop by and support the local 4-H and FFA at the Fur and Feather auction at 10:00 a.m., and the Youth Livestock Auction at 12:30 p.m. See some of the best tug of war teams compete in the USA Tug of War Championships at 10:30 a.m. Come and see some of the best of the best youth compete in for Master Showman in the JMB Insurance Show Barn starting at 5:00 p.m. If you love music, join us at 8:00 p.m., for Steve Augeri, the former lead singer of Journey. It's a show you will not want to miss.
Pioneer Day is Sunday with $5.00 admission for 65 years young and up. Sunday is the last day, but there is still plenty of action to see at the fair. We have an Antique Tractor Pull at 8:00 a.m., the Cake Auction at 11:00 a.m., and the Cheese and Dairy Auction at 1:00 p.m. The Brew City All-Star Heavyweight Wrestling will also entertain you. The fair's famous Demolition Derby will start at 5:00 p.m. The grandstands are free and pit passes will be $25.00.
As you can see, there will be so much to see and do. Come for a day for 10 dollars, or join us all week for 35 dollars. Also, remember all grandstands and Colony Brands Amphitheater events are free. So, come to the Green County Fair July 18th through the 22nd.
I would like to thank my sponsor, Mahlkuch Electric, LLC, and all the other fair sponsors. Once again, I am Danielle Schneider, the 2018 Green County Fairest of the Fair, and I hope to see you at the fair.
