Ellawyn Fong, a New Glarus High School junior, recently scored a 36 on the 2018 Spring ACT test. The highest score one can receive is a 36, and Ellawyn reached this milestone during the junior testing session in February. Her score is the first perfect score from a New Glarus student since requiring all students to take the ACT. Nationally, only about one-tenth of one percent (0.136%) of all ACT test takers earn a score of 36.
Ellawyn is not only an accomplished student but also an accomplished musician and athlete. Ellawyn plays the violin and participated in the 2018 NGHS production of She Loves Me. In addition, Ellawyn is part of the Sugar River Raiders Soccer Team and has played as part of varsity for three years, which won back-to-back conference championships. The National Center for Women in Informational Technology awarded Ellawyn the Aspirations Wisconsin Affiliate Award in 2017, and she was an Honorable Mention this year.
In honor of Ellawyn and her accomplishment, the entire school celebrated with a cake reception on Wednesday morning. Congratulations to Ellawyn for an amazing accomplishment!
